Transition Adaptors
Transition Adaptors are a conversion fitting from PE to a BSP threaded end. These would typically be used when connecting threaded Air valves to a rising main or other sampling/monitoring equipment such as pressure transducers, turbidity sensors, etc.
Mill-Pro supplies threaded ends in "Eco Brass" a lead-free, dezincification resistant copper alloy, complying to BS EN 12168 grade CW724R (CuZn21Si3P). Eco Brass is suitable for contact with Sewerage water, however, when making dissimilar metal connections, Galvanic corrosion between materials in contact with the media should be considered. Generally, this will not be an issue with equipment that is not buried such as Air valves and monitoring equipment.
NOTE: Galvanic corrosion occurs when dissimilar metals (a Cathode and Anode that are far apart on the galvanic table) are physically connected to each other (have conductivity, ie: no insulation between them) and have a common medium connecting them that completes an electrical circuit. In Hong Kong Sewerage water contains a higher salt content due to the saltwater flushing network in Hong Kong and the higher salt content can promote accelerated dissimilar metal corrosion for materials that are connected and far apart on the galvanic table.
Threaded Transition Adaptor / UAN / Male / SDR11 /PN16
The Friatec male threaded transition adaptor is a WIS 4-24-01 Type 1 compliant spigot fitting, with an Eco Brass, dezincification resistant, lead-free copper alloy male thread. The thread is non-rotatable and is not removable from the adaptor. The adaptor is fused to the PE pipe using an MB coupler to provide a threaded connection for Air valves and other equipment.
