Potable Water supply
More than 2km of Blue Mill-Pro M10 PE100 RC pipe complying with Water Suppliers Department Particular Specification PS Appendix 22.09, in sizes from OD 315, 250, 180, 125, 90, 63, 50 and 32 are part of this project
Installed as entrustment works on behalf of the Water Supplies Department (WSD) by Highways Department for contract HY/2014/16 by China State Construction Engineering.
WSD requires all pipes to be manufactured from PE100 RC (Resistant to Crack) compounds. Mill- Pro’s pipes, fittings and couplers are all manufactured from PE100 RC compounds. RC materials can be installed in applications such as seen here, without bedding, where backfill soil contains rocks and broken pavement.
“Point Loading” is where rocks or broken pavement within the backfill continually push on the pipe or fitting surface due to soil loading. This point loading creates stress cracking leading to Slow Crack Growth (SCG) failure through the pipe wall and eventual pipeline failure. PE100 RC compounds withstand ~100 years continual point loading without failure, this compares to only 10 years to failure* from traditional high quality 1000Hr PE100 compounds.
* Failure on a comparative basis comparing RC and non RC compounds. Variations in the causes and time to failure are unlimited, however RC compounds are well proven in long term performance.
